And on the subject of MCTs...

Ghee is great I shall shout from the roof tops and thank the ancient Ayurveda wisdom for this gift. And coconut oil is another fabulous option for our Plant preferred friends.

Metabolised differently to other fats, when eaten, the medium chain triglycerides in coconut oil are quickly used by the liver as a source of energy or turns into ketones, which may increase fat burning.

Also interesting: Coconut Oil contains around 50% 12-carbon lauric acid which when digested, forms a monolaurin, which can kill harmful pathogens like bacteria.

As well as the multiple benefits of consuming Coconut Oil, used topically, it can improve the moisture content of the skin. As a sufferer of eczema and dermatitis my whole life, moving from the kitchen into the bathroom, I have found the application of Coconut Oil onto damp skin has proved a lovely remedy.

Another application is using Coconut Oil is as a mouthwash in a process called oil pulling (another Ayurvedic practice), which can kill some of the harmful bacteria in the mouth, improve dental health and reduce bad breath. I do this upon rising every morning and have noticed the improvement in my teeth sensitivity also!

So - if you are not onto this already my friends, on your next shopping trip purchase a good quality coconut oil and get busy. I also like to add in that selection profile organic, extra virgin and ethically sourced...but that's just me
