Blog Entry #1 - it all started with Pilates...

Hi Everyone, my name is Luci and here is my first blog entry. I will be blogging for Be...Just Be about physical and mental wellness, nutrition (Im a foodie and love to create in the kitchen!) and topics that are about being a teenager. Every month I will be experiencing and reviewing all sorts of things and sharing this honestly, from the heart with you.

And, interestingly enough, it all started with Pilates...

I started doing Pilates with my Aunty Becc (a Pilates Instructor) because the opportunity was there and I wanted to improve my core control and thought that Pilates would help me with this and it would also help me to relax and have a positive mindset.

I have been doing Pilates for almost a whole year and really enjoy it. I have noticed major improvements in my well being, core strength, and my attitude towards the way I go about things. I think that I enjoy Pilates so much because it allows me to unwind at the end of the day and I can enjoy everything around me. I don't have to stress when doing Pilates and can just be in the moment.

if you are someone looking to get involved with Pilates either for a personal reason, or if you would just like to have a relaxing start/finish to your day, i would recommend giving it a go. When working on this article I was asked by Becc, "If I wasn't your aunty, do you think that you would still have started Pilates?". My honest answer was yes. I don't mind who is instructing me I still would have done it. Although having Becc as my Pilates instructor does make it easier because I can feel comfortable talking to her about my personal issues.

Try starting at home. I recommend doing some simple stretches when you wake up in the morning or before you go to sleep at night for 5 minutes. And remember to take long breaths. Doing this soothingly wakes you up in the morning, and relaxes you before going to be at night. This is especially if you've had a big day and are tense, and just need to relieve tension.
